Slowcialism: Workers of the world relax, you have nothing to lose but your planet!

Wayne Roberts used the term “slowcialism” in a January 20, 2011 Now Magazine (Toronto) article on Slow Money. I use the term (with Wayne’s permission) to introduce the ideas of convivial degrowth now becoming popular in the struggles against climate change and injustice. If the entire world consumed at the rate of Canadians, we would need four planets to sustain ourselves (6 at US rates of consumption) – clearly not possible under either the laws of thermodynamics or common sense.
