De-Growth – less production, more happiness (June 29, 2011)

Can humans and their economies just grow forever? Politicians always sell us on growth, as do corporations. But our planet is limited in resources, and we are using more than Earth can give. Should we just wait for the great Ponzi scheme to collapse? Why not plan for a smaller economy, with less impact on the atmosphere and the species, while we can. That is the idea behind “De-Growth”. You will hear two speakers from the opening panel at the De-Growth Conference in Vancouver Canada June 3, 2011. Conrad Schmidt of the Work Less Party, and Dr. Bill Rees, Co-inventor of the ecological footprint.
Alex Smith, Radio Ecoshock 110629 29 minutes.
