A deep green program for saving the world and building better lives: Reduce working hours to ensure that everyone has enough work and no one is overworked, while building safer and healthier communities.
This document, which has been adopted by the National Committee of The Greens/Green Party USA, raises important issues that ecosocialists should consider and discuss widely. It is posted on the organization’s website, and will be published in the Fall 2013 issue of Green Social Thought.
Although the document uses the term “deep green,” the views it expresses have no connection with the Malthusian and primitivist groups that also use that label. The Greens/Green Party USA describes itself as committed to “long-term activist organizing for true democracy and a Green society.” It is not affiliated to the Green Party of the United States, which ran Jill Stein for president in 2012.
