Local and/or Global: Greg Sharzer and Hilary Wainwright

Greg Sharzer argues that movements have to confront the contradictions of capitalist crisis, and not simply try to carve alternative spaces away from that crisis. Hilary Wainwright argues that any challenge to neoliberalism must go much further than making demands on the state. And we must avoid the false dichotomy between organizing locally and on a broader stage.

This fell into my in basket as I’m spending 6 weeks at Can Decreix in Cerbere, France, one of the many alternative spaces across the globe confronting the global crisis and challenging the global order.

It’s an important discussion of relevance to strategies for degrowth.
